In the previous articles, it was focused on the health problems. But in this article, general or basic health information about Alaskan Malamutes will be discussed. This includes fatality, morbidity and on how they cope up with the climate.
FATALITY
The expected life span of a malamute is 10.7 years. The cause of their fatality is cancer. It is bit intriguing and nearly fictionalized. But, it is fact and about 36 percent of the malamutes died because of cancer. Cancer is not only experienced by humans but also togs especially to this kind of breed.
MORBIDITY
According to the 2004 UK Kennel Club, the most commonly reported problems of their health were musculoskeletal and cataracts. Musculoskeletal refers to the disability of the dogs to use their muscular and skeletal system which greatly affect the stability, balance, and locomotion of the Malamute. Cataract is cloud formation happening in the eyes which greatly affects the sight of the dog.

This breed of dogs is originally suited in winter regions. With that they have very dense coat of furs. But nowadays we can find these dogs even in sunny countries. So they are not use to it and not suited to their physicalities. To cope with that, they need plenty of water during hot days.
